127th Constitution Amendment Bill, 2021 introduced in Lok Sabha.

The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2021 was today introduced in the Lok Sabha. The bill seeks to restore the power of States and Union Territories to make their own OBC lists. Introducing the Bill, Social Justice Minister Dr Virendra Kumar said the Chief Ministers of opposition ruled states have also made the demand for this legislation. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the opposition is in support of the Bill. He said the government has brought this legislation as the OBC community is agitated.

Opposition parties to support OBC bill 2021 in Parliament: Mallikarjun Kharge

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge today said opposition parties will support Constitution one hundred twenty-seventh amendment bill 2021in the Parliament. Talking to media outside Parliament, he said this bill is in the interest of Backward Classes and the poor of the country. Mr Kharge said they want to have a discussion on the Bill in both Houses. Leaders of Shiv Sena, DMK, Samajwadi Party and NCP leaders were also present. These parties have also given their support to the Bill.

Mallikarjun Kharge clarified that the move to cooperate with the government in Parliament applies to the constitution amendment bill only and does not extend to other issues. “Other issues are a different matter altogether, but we are ready to get this bill passed,” said the Rajya Sabha MP.
