Preference for those taking the second dose after May 1: Mayor Mohol
Preference will be given to those taking the second dose, along with senior citizens after May 1 in Pune city. After May 1, private hospitals will be purchasing vaccines directly from companies, hence vaccines will not be supplied by the municipal corporation, Mayor Murlidhar Mohol told a press conference here on Monday. Deputy- Mayor Sunita Wadekar, Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, Chairman of City Improvement Committee Anand Rithe were present on the occasion.
The fifth phase of immunization will begin on May 1. In this phase, it has been decided to vaccinate all 18-year-olds against corona. In a meeting with the Municipal Commissioner and senior officials on Monday, Mohol said more than two lakh senior citizens, 15000 health workers, and 45000 front-line workers would be given priority in vaccination. Mohol also said that after May 1, the vaccine quota received from the state government will be used only at the immunization centers of municipal hospitals.
