6 dignitaries from Maharashtra were honoured with Padma awards; Entrepreneur Anand Mahindra awarded ‘Padma Bhushan’.
New Delhi: The highest civilian Padma awards were distributed by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening. In this program, 6 dignitaries from Maharashtra were honoured with Padma awards. In this, businessman Anand Mahindra was honoured with the Padma Bhushan award. 
Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other Union Ministers were present at the Padma Awards. The Padma Awards are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day. Some of the Padma Awards for the year 2020 were distributed this morning in the Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The awards were presented to 4 dignitaries at a ceremony held in the morning. The rest of the Padma Awards for the year 2020 were distributed in the evening. A total of 6 dignitaries were awarded.
A famous businessman from Maharashtra Shri. Anand Mahindra has been awarded the Padma Bhushan for outstanding achievements in the field of trade and industry. Mr Mahindra is the Chairman of Mahindra Group. His conglomerate operates in 100 countries around the world.
5 dignitaries who have done incomparable work in various fields in Maharashtra were honoured with Padma Shri awards. In this, 3 dignitaries were honoured with Padma Shri awards for their contribution in the field of art in the second phase today. In this, Suresh Wadkar was honoured with the Padma Shri award for singing in Marathi, Hindi and other languages.
Ekta Kapoor was awarded the Padma Shri for her outstanding contribution to the field of art. Ms Kapoor has an independent reputation as a producer of various series in television as well as film. His series on television has reached the pinnacle of household popularity.
Karan Johar was also awarded the Padma Shri for his outstanding contribution to the field of art. He has directed many films in Hindi cinema. He has made many entertaining Hindi films in the last 2 decades.
Popatrao Pawar was honoured with the Padma Award for his social work. Rahibai Popere of Ahmednagar district, popularly known as Beejmata, was honoured for her innovative work in the field of agriculture.
In the year 2020, 7 dignitaries from various fields were awarded Padma Vibhushan, 16 dignitaries were awarded Padma Bhushan and 118 dignitaries were awarded Padma Shri. This includes 13 dignitaries from Maharashtra. A total of 10 dignitaries from Maharashtra were honoured with Padma Shri awards in today’s award distribution.
