Greetings from the Deputy Chief Minister and President of Maharashtra Olympic Association Ajit Pawar on the occasion of Olympic Day.

 Deputy Chief Minister and President of the Maharashtra Olympic Association Ajit Pawar today appealed to inculcate sports culture in the cities, villages and hamlets of the state to prepare a large number of Olympic medal-winning athletes in Maharashtra. Expressing confidence that the athletes from Maharashtra representing in the Tokyo Olympics would return home after winning medals for the country, he wished the Indian Olympic team success. 

On the occasion of World Olympic Day, the Maharashtra Olympic Association organized the ‘Olympic Day 2021’ event at Deccan Gymkhana-Pune today. Deputy Chief Minister and President of Maharashtra Olympic Association Ajit Pawar attended the event online. Sports Commissioner Omprakash Bakoria, General Secretary of Maharashtra Olympic Association Balasaheb Landage, office bearers Prakash Tulpule, Namdev Shirgaonkar, Sundar Iyer, Dhananjay Bhosale, Dayanand Kumar and others represented in Olympic and international competitions as well as a large number of emerging athletes, sports activists and sportspersons. 

Former Olympians including Rahi Sarnobat (Shooting), Tejaswini Sawant (Shooting), Pravin Jadhav (Archery), Avinash Sable (Athletics), Chirag Shetty (Badminton), Swaroop Unhalkar (Para Shooting), Suyash Jadhav (Para-Swimming) who were selected for the Tokyo Olympics. The players were also felicitated online.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that while celebrating World Olympic Day today, he remembered Khashaba Jadhav, a wrestler who won the country’s first individual Olympic medal at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Maharashtra’s Suputra won the country’s first individual Olympic medal in the form of wrestler Khashaba Jadhav. Seven athletes from Maharashtra are participating in the Olympics to be held in Japan in July. The state government stands by the players in full force. He expressed confidence that Maharashtra’s athletes would win medals for the country by performing well in the Tokyo Olympics.

Athletes, coaches, managers, the entire team should take care to avoid corona as they go about winning medals at the Tokyo Olympics. Although the number of corona is low in Japan, players from many countries will come there. Therefore, every player of the Indian team, support team members should take care of themselves and their teammates. Corona prevention rules should be followed. The Deputy Chief Minister also appealed to the people to respect the sentiments of the people that Chinese sponsors should be avoided for the Indian team going to the Tokyo Olympics.

Whether it is the World Olympic Association or the Maharashtra Olympic Association, sports organizations and sports activists in the state and the country are trying to inculcate the spirit of unity, equality, brotherhood, sportsmanship in the society through sports and create a cultured, strong, healthy society. Expressing gratitude for the sports service of sports workers in the state, President of Maharashtra Olympic Association Ajit Pawar has congratulated the sportspersons, sports workers and sportspersons in the state on the occasion of World Olympic Day.

उपमुख्यमंत्री तथा महाराष्ट्र ऑलिंपिक संघटनेचे अध्यक्ष अजित पवार यांच्याकडून आलिंपिक दिनाच्या शुभेच्छा. 

 ऑलिंपिक पदक जिंकून देणारे खेळाडू महाराष्ट्रात मोठ्या संख्येने तयार होण्यासाठी राज्याच्या शहरात, गावखेड्यात, वाडीवस्तीवर क्रीडासंस्कृती रुजवण्याचे आवाहन उपमुख्यमंत्री तथा महाराष्ट्र ऑलिंपिक संघटनेचे अध्यक्ष अजित पवार यांनी आज केले. टोकियो ऑलिंपिकमध्ये प्रतिनिधीत्वं करणारे महाराष्ट्रातील खेळाडू देशासाठी पदक जिंकून परत येतील, असा विश्वास व्यक्त करीत त्यांनी भारतीय ऑलिंपिक संघाला यशासाठी शुभेच्छा दिल्या. 

जागतिक ऑलिंपिक दिनानिमित्त, महाराष्ट्र ऑलिंपिक असोसिएशनतर्फे डेक्कन जिमखाना-पुणे येथे ‘ऑलिंपिक डे 2021’ कार्यक्रमाचे आज आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. उपमुख्यमंत्री तथा महाराष्ट्र ऑलिंपिक असोसिएशनचे अध्यक्ष अजित पवार हे कार्यक्रमाला ऑनलाईन उपस्थित होते. क्रीडाआयुक्त ओमप्रकाश बकोरिया, महाराष्ट्र ऑलिंपिक असोसिएशनचे महासचिव बाळासाहेब लांडगे, पदाधिकारी प्रकाश तुळपुळे, नामदेव शिरगावकर, सुंदर अय्यर, धनंजय भोसले, दयानंद कुमार आदींसह ऑलिंपिक व आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्पर्धांमध्ये प्रतिनिधीत्व केलेले तसेच उदयोन्मुख खेळाडू, क्रीडाकार्यकर्ते, क्रीडारसिक मोठ्या संख्येने उपस्थित होते. 

टोकियो ऑलिंपिकसाठी निवड झालेल्या राही सरनोबत (नेमबाजी), तेजस्विनी सावंत (नेमबाजी), प्रविण जाधव (तिरंदाजी), अविनाश साबळे (अॅथलेटिक्स), चिराग शेट्टी (बॅडमिंटन), स्वरुप उन्हाळकर (पॅरा शुटींग), सुयश जाधव (पॅरा जलतरण) यांच्यासह माजी ऑलिंपिक खेळाडूंचाही यावेळी ऑनलाईन सत्कार करण्यात आला.

उपमुख्यमंत्री अजित पवार यावेळी म्हणाले की, आज जागतिक ऑलिंपिक दिन साजरा करत असताना, १९५२ च्या हेलसिंकी ऑलिंपिकमध्ये देशाला पहिले वैयक्तिक ऑलिंपिक पदक जिंकून देणाऱ्या पैलवान खाशाबा जाधव यांची आठवण होते. पैलवान खाशाबा जाधवांच्या रुपाने देशाला पहिले वैयक्तिक ऑलिंपिक पदक महाराष्ट्राच्या सुपुत्राने मिळवून दिले होते.येत्या जुलै महिन्यात जपानमध्ये होणाऱ्या ऑलिंपिक स्पर्धेत महाराष्ट्रातून सात खेळाडू सहभागी होत आहेत. राज्य सरकार पूर्ण ताकदीने खेळाडूंच्या पाठीशी उभे आहे. महाराष्ट्राचे खेळाडू टोकियो ऑलिंपिकमध्ये उत्तम कामगिरी करुन देशासाठी पदक जिंकतील, असा विश्वास त्यांनी यावेळी व्यक्त केला.

टोकियो ऑलिंपिकमध्ये पदक जिंकण्याच्या जिद्दीने जात असताना, खेळाडूंनी, प्रशिक्षक, मॅनेजर, संपूर्ण टीमने कोरोनापासून बचावाची काळजी घ्यावी. जपानमध्ये कोरोनाचे प्रमाण कमी असले तरी अनेक देशातून तिथे खेळाडू येणार आहेत. त्यामुळे भारतीय संघाच्या प्रत्येक खेळाडूंनी, सपोर्ट टीम सदस्यांनी आपली व सहकाऱ्यांची काळजी घ्यावी. कोरोना प्रतिबंधक नियमांचे पालन करावे. टोकियो ऑलिंपिकसाठी जाणाऱ्या भारतीय संघासाठी चीनी प्रायोजक कंपन्यांना टाळावे, या देशवासियांच्या भावनेचा आदर करण्याचे आवाहनही उपमुख्यमंत्र्यांनी केले. 

जागतिक ऑलिंपिक संघटना असो की महाराष्ट्र आलिंपिक संघटना, खेळांच्या माध्यमातून समाजात एकता, समता, बंधुता, खिलाडूपणाची भावना रुजवण्याचा, सुसंस्कृत, समर्थ, सशक्त, निरोगी समाज घडवण्याचा प्रयत्न राज्यातील, देशातील क्रीडासंघटना व क्रीडा कार्यकर्ते करत असतात. राज्यातील क्रीडा कार्यकर्त्यांच्या क्रीडासेवेबद्दल कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करुन महाराष्ट्र ऑलिंपिक असोसिएशनचे अध्यक्ष अजित पवार यांनी जागतिक ऑलिंपिक दिनाच्या निमित्ताने राज्यातील खेळाडू, क्रीडाकार्यकर्ते, क्रीडारसिकांना शुभेच्छा दिल्या आहेत.
