State government consoles 2014 ESBC candidates.
The state government has given a big relief to the ESBC candidates of 2014. Ashok Chavan announced in the Assembly that the appointments made before the adjournment of the High Court as well as the temporary appointments for 11 months after the adjournment have been retained.
Disclosing this here today, the Public Works Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Maratha Reservation, Ashok Chavan, said that these decisions have been taken with a view to streamlining the recruitment process which has been stalled due to the court battle for Maratha reservation. Candidates who have been appointed before the adjournment of the High Court and after the adjournment have been given temporary appointments for 11 months on merit from the open category will get the benefit of this decision.
The court case of Maratha reservation, the stay on it and the final verdict, as well as the corona, have hampered the recruitment process. Many of them were above the age limit of SEBC candidates, moreover, due to the cancellation of SEBC reservations, many students were going to cross the age limit. Ashok Chavan informed that the state government has decided to increase the age limit for SEBC candidates to 43 years. He also said that the benefit of concession in examination fee was also allowed to these students.
Before the ban on implementation of Maratha reservation came into force on September 9, 2020, the legal opinion of senior jurists has been sought regarding the appointment of candidates who have been recommended for selection by SEBC but have not yet been appointed, after which a decision will be taken.
The state government has already decided to provide EWS or open category options to SEBC candidates in the recruitment process, which is yet to be finalized, said Chavan.
