Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had a telephone conversation with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him of the current situation in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur. The Defense Minister has assured Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar that immediate assistance has been provided to the Army in the areas affected by heavy rains and landslides. The state government has appointed Asim Gupta, secretary, relief and rehabilitation department, as the nodal officer to coordinate with the defense ministry on rescue and relief work in the flood-hit areas. Chief Secretary of State Sitaram Kunte himself is looking after the defense and help. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is constantly reviewing the relief and rescue work in the flood-hit areas and necessary instructions are being given immediately, informed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is keeping an eye on the heavy rains and emergencies in the state. Raigad District Guardian Minister Aditi Tatkare, Ratnagiri Guardian Minister Anil Parab, Sindhudurg Guardian Minister Uday Samant, Satara Guardian Minister Balasaheb Patil, Minister of State Shambhuraj Desai, MLA Aniket Tatkare, Bharat Gogavale, Bhaskar Jadhav, Shekhar Nikam, and other people’s representatives from the flood-hit areas participated in the rescue and relief work. He also reviewed the situation from MP Sunil Tatkare and District Collector. The Deputy Chief Minister has instructed the ministers as well as the people’s representatives to provide necessary assistance to the affected citizens immediately and not to leave the district till the situation is restored.
Due to heavy rains in the Koyna dam area, the water level of the dam is rising and the citizens of the riverside villages of Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur districts are being shifted to safer places. Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil himself is keeping an eye on the water level of Koyna Dam and is also in touch with Almatti Dam management. Every effort is being made to control the situation in Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur districts. In many cities like Mahad, Poladpur, Khed, Chiplun, Guhagar, Patan, Shirala, Kolhapur, the situation is critical and the district administration, NDRF, and army are being called in to evacuate the stranded citizens. The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that the Army and Navy have also participated in the rescue and relief operations and more assistance has been provided to the Army as per the need.
The district administration has been instructed to evacuate the residents of the villages which have been cut off due to landslides and landslides. Local citizens and NGOs should also cooperate in the rescue and relief work of the affected citizens in their respective areas in case of emergency. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has appealed to the people of the rain-hit areas not to take shelter in a safe place and leave till the situation returns to normal. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has also appealed to the people affected by the disaster to contact the police or local administration and people’s representatives for any help.
