Hostels ready for Maratha students at 14 places.

Almost all the demands of the Maratha community are being met and government decisions have been taken regarding the appointments of Maratha candidates in the government service. It has also been directed to expedite the remaining pending issues. Similarly, hostels for Maratha students have been set up at 14 places and will be inaugurated soon by the local Guardian Minister, said Ashok Chavan, Minister for Public Works and Chairman, Cabinet Sub-Committee on Maratha Reservation.

today. Members of the sub-committee and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde were present on the occasion. Manukumar Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Vikas Rastogi, Secretary, Higher and Technical Education Department, Sumant Bhange, Secretary, General Administration Department, Shekhar Channe, Managing Director, ST Corporation, Ashok Kakade, Managing Director, Sarathi, Anil Patil, Managing Director, Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation Was present at this time.

Hostels for Maratha students will be set up at 23 places in the state. Out of these, 14 hostel buildings are ready and instructions have been given to inaugurate them soon. These include one each in Mumbai and Mumbai Suburbs, Pune, Satara, Miraj, Kolhapur, Beed, Latur, Amravati, Nagpur and two each in Nashik and Aurangabad. Mr. Chavan also said that the Revenue Minister will hold a meeting with the Divisional Commissioner and District Collector to make space available for starting hostels in the remaining places.

Mr. Chavan said that the process of providing space for the Divisional Center and District Center of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research and Training Institute (Sarathi) has been expedited. At present, a sub-center has been started at Kolhapur. Administrative approval has also been given for the construction of Pune headquarters at a cost of Rs 42.70 crore and the work will be launched soon. Through Sarathi, guidance classes for competitive examinations, provision of manpower for the institute, launching of Taradut project, talent search examinations and launching of new schemes like scholarships for students of class IX to XII have been started and these subjects will be sorted out soon. As per the demand of Sarathi Sanstha, Rs 150 crore has been provided for the organization at present and the funds will be provided as per the demand. He also said that funds are being provided for the schemes of Annasaheb Patil Financial Corporation and new schemes will be introduced by taking strategic decisions.

199 cases behind the agitation; 109 Request to court to withdraw cases

Out of 325 cases filed against Maratha Kranti Morcha agitators, the state government has approved to withdraw 324 cases. Of these, 199 cases have been withdrawn and 109 cases have been requested in the court. Out of the 43 heirs of those who died in this agitation, 8 heirs have been recruited in ST Corporation and 6 will be recruited after completion of their education. The process of appointing the remaining heirs is in full swing. Also, so far, the heirs of 17 deceased have been provided financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund. Of the remaining 34, information has been received and they will be assisted soon.

As the court proceedings have now started in person, the Kopardi case is being pursued as soon as possible. Also, like other backward classes, work is underway to prepare a plan for giving concessions to the Maratha community and a decision will be taken soon. Also, a decision has been taken to give appointments to the candidates who have appeared for the examinations from SEBC, ESBC category but the appointments have been delayed and the process of giving these appointments will be completed soon.

At this time, Mr. Thorat and Mr. Shinde demanded that the demands of the Maratha community be met as soon as possible, by holding a meeting at the level of Chief Secretary to speed up the proposals.
