The state government has decided to increase the scope of the district level task force set up for the rehabilitation of children who have lost both their parents due to the Covid outbreak. Following the announcement made by Women and Child Development Minister Adv. Yashomati Thakur last week (August 5), an immediate government decision has been issued today.

As per the directions of the Juvenile Justice Committee of the Supreme Court Judge, the state government has constituted a task force under the chairmanship of the District Collector for the children in the institutions working for the care and protection of children in the state during the COVID-19 outbreak as well as for children who have lost both parents due to COVID-19. Necessary measures are being taken for the proper upbringing of these children by ensuring their just rights through this task force at the district level.

Kovid-19 has led to the death of the head of the family and many women have become single/widowed. It has been decided today to expand the scope of the district level action force on child rehabilitation as these women need to be properly rehabilitated and reintegrated into society due to the Kovid outbreak. Members include Assistant Commissioner, Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, District Coordinator, Women’s Economic Development Corporation, Assistant Commissioner, Social Welfare Department; District Program Officer / Child Development Project Officer (Civil-Nodal Officer), Integrated Child Development Services Scheme has been included as Assistant Coordinator.

“The problem of single, widowed women has become serious due to the loss of earning men in the household due to Covid-19. The State Government is committed to taking all necessary measures for the rehabilitation of these women. However, it is a good thing that organizations working in this field are also taking the initiative. Just last week, the Single Women Rehabilitation Committee held a meeting with organizations working in the field of women in the state. The measures are being outlined accordingly and the visual effects will be seen soon. ”

– Adv. Yashomati Thakur, Minister for Women and Child Development

Necessary measures will be taken by the action force to rehabilitate the single/widowed women due to covid outbreak by availing the benefits of various government schemes and keeping their property rights intact. Also, women who have become single/widowed due to the Covid outbreak are more likely to be victims of domestic violence.

Necessary measures will be taken to register these women through Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, take into account their skills, education and interests, train them as required and provide them employment. The Women’s Economic Development Corporation should set up women’s self-help groups and give priority to the schemes implemented through self-help groups. Also, these savings groups should be provided with share capital at low-interest rates through the Women’s Economic Development Corporation. The ruling states that measures should be taken under this action force to give priority to the benefit of the schemes being implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance.

The District Program Officer / Child Development Project Officer (Citizen-Nodal Officer) of the Integrated Child Development Services Scheme has been entrusted with the responsibility of getting the information of these women to the Anganwadi workers and making this information available to the District Women and Child Development Officer and the Action Force.
