The Minister of Health and the Minister of Food and Drug Administration reviewed the preparations for preventing a possible third wave of the corona.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope and Food and Drug Administration Minister Dr Rajendra Shingane reviewed the measures being taken to curb the possible third wave of the corona at a joint meeting at the ministry today. The ministers also directed that the PSA plant for oxygen production in the state should be operational at full capacity within a month and increase the capacity of oxygen storage.Covid-19-Pixabay-Image

Principal Secretary Food and Drug Department Sourav Vijay, Commissioner Parimal Singh, Joint Secretary Medical Education Daulat Desai, Joint Commissioner Health Dr Satish Pawar was also present.

Oxygen availability, production, storage, distribution were discussed. The state is currently producing about 2,000 metric tonnes of oxygen, the health minister said. The health minister said that there are 350 PSA plants for oxygen production in the state, of which 141 are operating at full capacity and the rest will be commissioned within the next month.

Private hospitals with 50 beds in the state have been directed to set up PSA plants for oxygen production. Accordingly, the district surgeons and district health officers have been directed to report on the number of private hospitals set up in the state. This will determine the potential for additional oxygen availability in the state, the health minister said. It was suggested that the manufacturers should strictly follow the guidelines issued by the health department to prevent leakage of oxygen from the plant.
