Ganeshotsav will be celebrated in Pune city from September 10, 2021, to September 19, 2021, as per the guidelines issued by the government on the background of the coronavirus outbreak. For this Ganeshotsav, a restraining order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 has been imposed in Pune city by the Commissioner of Pune City Police, Dr Ravindra Shiswe.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared coronavirus a contagious disease. The state has also enacted the Prevention of Epidemic Disease Act-1857 to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19). As part of the Corona Prevention Measures, curfews have been imposed in the Police Commissionerate area, places of worship of all religions have been closed and curfews have been imposed.

During Ganeshotsav, Ganesh Mandals generate or release coils of fire with the help of flammable substances (kerosene, diesel, petrol, gas etc.) at their place of establishment. Any flammable (kerosene, diesel, petrol, gas) in front of any public Ganesh Mandal on any road or in any public place within the limits of Pune City Police Commissionerate as per the authority conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 as it may endanger human life as well as private or public property. Etc.) It is prohibited by this order to create a coil of fire with the help of a substance or to release it into the air. This order will be effective from 1:00 pm on September 10, 2021, to 24:00 pm on September 19, 2021.

A person violating this order will be liable to punishment as per Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, said Pune City Police Commissioner Dr Ravindra Shiswe.
