The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has expressed satisfaction over the swift police probe into the rape and subsequent death of a woman in Sakinaka. Expressing confidence that the state government would give full justice in the matter, the vice-chairman of the commission Arun Haldar also clarified that politics should not be involved in the incident. Today, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray summoned the Deputy Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Arun Haldar, for a personal discussion on the incident.
Immediate financial assistance to the victim’s family
The Chief Minister said that the children of the victim would not be left to fend for themselves. He also directed the concerned departments to take swift action in the matter of education and upbringing of the woman’s children.
Thoughts on homes for orphans, homeless women
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray requested the Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Haldar, to consider whether the State Government and the Central Government could start a Gharkool scheme for the homeless and orphaned women living on the streets. In this regard, the Commission should instruct the Central Government to come up with such a plan, said the Chief Minister.
The satisfaction that there was no negligence in the investigation
Arun Haldar, the vice-chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, said police rushed to the spot shortly after the incident and helped the woman. He also expressed satisfaction over the speedy investigation and arrest of the accused. Thanking the police, he said the administration has taken good steps to show that we can give justice to the victimized women. Now, as soon as possible, the case should be taken to court and the culprit should be sentenced to death so that the culprit will think twice while committing any such crime.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Police Hemant Nagarale said that the police reached the spot within ten minutes of learning of the incident.
Immediate appointment of Raja Thackeray
In yesterday The Chief Minister had immediately convened a meeting of senior police officials and directed that a special public prosecutor be appointed before the case goes to court. Similarly, the famous lawyer Raja Thackeray was immediately appointed by the Commissioner of Police, on which the Deputy Chairman of the Commission Arun Haldar expressed satisfaction.
The network of CCTV cameras will be expanded
The incident has been captured on CCTV cameras. Informing that 5,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in Mumbai and 7,000 cameras are being installed, Vishwas Nangre-Patil, Commissioner of Police, said that all malls, institutions and shops in the city have been required to install cameras in the direction of the road. He informed that over 50,000 cameras are working in the city.
