Governor promises to focus on the rehabilitation of blind, disabled persons.
Governor announces Rs 10 lakh aid to NAB. 
We will follow up at the government level with increased government grants for the education of visually impaired students, financial assistance to deaf and multi-disabled centres as well as scholarships for visually impaired students pursuing skill-based education, as well as special B.Ed. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari assured that we will also discuss giving equivalent recognition to the course as per the normal B.Ed course.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the All India Flag Fundraising Campaign for the Blind at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, organized by the National Association for the Blind (NAB), an organization working for the education, training and employment of the blind.
Blind and disabled people are making good progress in many areas. However, the problems of the disabled are different from those of the common people. Fortunately, many people in our country and organizations like NAB are doing a good job for the disabled. Mentioning this, the Governor announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to NAB.
The eyes of those who died in the accident should be available for the blind
NAB Maharashtra President Rameshwar Kalantri demanded that provision should be made in the law to make the eyes of those killed in road accidents immediately available to the blind.
NAB Vice President Suryabhan Salunke, General Secretary Gopi Mayur, Chartered Accountant Vinod Jaju, Joint Secretary Bhavesh Bhatia, Mukteshwar Munshettiwar, Mangala Kalantri were present on the occasion.
