A sugar museum will be set up at Pune.
Considering the position of Maharashtra in the sugar industry, the proposal to set up a world-class Sugar Museum at Pune was approved in the Cabinet meeting held today. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
A sugar museum will be set up in the space of the sugar complex at Pune. Approval was given to set up a state-level regulatory committee under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Minister and an executive committee under the chairmanship of the Minister of Co-operation to oversee the actual construction work of the sugar museum.
The construction of the sugar museum is expected to cost up to Rs. 40 crore and the government has approved to provide this fund to the sugar commissioner in three years. The design of the sugar museum will be selected through a national level competition.
