Establishment of a Union of Ministers under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to rectify the flaws in the GST system and make it simple and flawless.

A group of Deputy Chief Ministers and Finance Ministers has been set up under the chairmanship of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to suggest reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system to make it easier and simpler. The same group of ministers will also monitor the implementation of the reforms recommended by the group of ministers and approved by the GST Council. The group of ministers, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, includes Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Bugna Rajendranath, Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Niyog and Chhattisgarh Trade Tax Minister T.K. S. Singhdev, Odisha Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Dr Palanivel Thagarajan. The Group of Ministers will make recommendations from time to time on current issues such as simplification of GST filing process, verification of information provided by taxpayers, prevention of tax evasion, efficient use of information technology to make the tax system efficient, flawless, and mechanisms for coordination between central and state tax authorities. The same group of ministers will also monitor the timely implementation of the recommendations made by the group of ministers and approved by the GST Council. The decision to set up the group was taken after the 45th meeting of the GST Council on September 17 and a circular has been issued in this regard.
