Paramedical courses should be included in the service admission rules of the medical education department – Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh.

Mumbai: Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh has directed that this course should be included in the service admission rules of the medical education department to provide employment opportunities to the students pursuing paramedical courses. Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh.

A meeting on paramedical courses in government medical colleges was held at the ministry under the chairmanship of Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh. The meeting was attended by Medical Education Secretary Saurabh Vijay, Director of Medical Education Dr Dilip Mhaisekar, Deputy Secretary Prakash Survase, Deputy Secretary Surendra Chankar, Dr Sushil Dubey of the Directorate of Medical Education, Dr Arun Kumar Vyas and other officials.

Medical Education Minister Mr Deshmukh said that at present there are 13 Paramedical Courses (Bachelor in Paramedical Technology) in Government Medical Colleges in the state and there are about 2000 seats available for them. It is important to ensure that these graduate students have access to employment opportunities as well as more manpower in government hospitals.

In order to get more information about the admission process of paramedical courses, more and more newspapers should be published by the colleges at the district level. The paramedical course is a skill-based degree course and the need for these courses has been seen in the Kovid-19 period. The Director of Medical Education should study which of these 13 courses need to be restructured in the near future. Mr Deshmukh also directed that a high-level committee should be constituted as a study group to restructure the syllabus with a view to making necessary changes and upgrading.
