Pune: Deccan College is a glory for the country and this college has given great, scholarly gems to the country. The college has made a significant contribution in the field of education, stated Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
He was speaking on the occasion of Deccan College Bicentennial. Union Minister of State for Communications Devu Singh Chouhan and Deccan College President AP Jamkhedkar, Chief Postmaster General Harish Agrawal, Pune Postmaster Madhumita Das, Savitribai Phule Pune University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Deccan College Vice-Chancellor Pramod Pandey, Vice-Chancellor Prasad Joshi etc. were present.
Mr Koshyari said that completing 200 years is a great achievement for an organization. Deccan College is one of the reputed colleges in the country. The tradition of making an ideal citizen and a great person out of college should continue in the future as well. He hoped that this college would produce scholarly students.
“Our country is sending a message of peace to the world,” he said. Our Yoga Day was celebrated in 180 countries around the world. Your thoughts are being respected all over the world. The whole world is curious about our culture. The task of preserving the culture of the country is being done through such educational institutions. He also mentioned that the contribution of such glorious organizations in the development of the country is unforgettable.
Union Minister of State Chouhan said that the history and contribution of Deccan College are important for the country. He said that Deccan College has made a significant contribution to the lives of great personalities who fought for the country.
On this occasion, the Governor issued postage stamps at Deccan College as well as booklets containing information on various activities.
