The habit of handwashing should become an integral part of life – Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh
Pune: We have realized the importance of handwashing from time to time during the Corona period and this habit should now become an integral part of our lives. For this, all government agencies should convince the people in cities and villages to wash their hands, appealed District Collector, Dr Rajesh Deshmukh.
Dr Deshmukh was speaking at the inauguration of World Handwashing Day and Hygiene Week at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office.
Dr Deshmukh further said that 80 to 90 per cent of the diseases are caused by the passage of viruses, bacteria etc. through the nose and mouth. Your hands must be clean to prevent it. Therefore, the importance of handwashing from time to time should be conveyed to all through public awareness.
Mr Kalshetti said that Hand Washing Day is celebrated globally on 15th October to highlight the importance of handwashing. The importance of wearing a mask to prevent corona, maintaining a safe distance and washing hands from time to time is being inculcated all over the world. Pune as well as Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, all Municipal Councils, Pune Zilla Parishad will conduct Sanitation Week from 14th to 22nd October and will create awareness about healthy habits.
Demonstrations of scientific handwashing were shown during the program. Hygiene Awareness Banner, World Handwashing Day, Covid Vaccination Awareness Handbook and Batch were unveiled.
The Zilla Parishad will conduct an awareness campaign through Chitraratha in all the districts from 14th to 22nd October. The Chitraratha was also inaugurated by the dignitaries. At this time, the artists of Kalapathak presented an awareness program.
