Kolhapur 15: In the capital city of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the traditional festival of Vijayadashami was celebrated in the historic Dussehra Chowk in royal style and enthusiasm. Shami Pujan was performed by the Shrimant Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. After this, Yuvraj-MP Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati, Maloji Raje Chhatrapati, Shahaji Raje Chhatrapati, Yashraj Raje Chhatrapati and Yashaswini Raje Chhatrapati from Chhatrapati’s family participated in Sami Pujan.
Earlier, Karveer Nivasini Ambabai (Shri Mahalakshmi), Tulja Bhavani from the old palace and Guru Maharaj’s palanquins arrived with an entourage. After this, Shrimant Shahu Maharaj Chhatrapati and his family members arrived at Dussehra Chowk in the traditional manner in a historic Maybach car. On this occasion, the band of Police Department and TA Battalion welcomed him by playing the song of Karveer Sansthan. Members of the royal family were welcomed by the Dussehra Festival Committee, as per royal custom. Aarti of the Goddess was performed after the ritual worship of the priests in the traditional manner. After this, the people of Kolhapur enthusiastically participated festival. After this, while the members of the royal family, including Shrimant Shahu Maharaj, were returning to the palace, the citizens gave them gold. Against the backdrop of the corona, the Dussehra program followed the government’s guidelines.
The royal Dussehra ceremony was held only in the presence of the invitees against the backdrop of the Corona outbreak situation. The ceremony was telecast live on LED screens at various places in the city so that the citizens could watch the ceremony from home.
