Special campaign to prevent food adulteration
Pune: – In order to provide safe, pure and healthy food to the citizens during Diwali, a special campaign has been launched to check adulteration and take food samples.
Necessary instructions have been given by holding a meeting of confectionery sellers, khova, mawa, farsan producers through the online system. Professionals should place the usable date on the confectionery tray. Raw food and khava should be procured from registered food traders. It will be mandatory for food traders to mention only the license number obtained under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 on their sales payments. Drinking water should be used to prepare the food. Food should be stored in a clean and safe place. Medical examination of workers for skin and infectious diseases should be done.
When preparing sweets, use only foodgrain food colour within 100 ppm. Instructions should be given on packaging material for eating Bengali sweets within 8 to 10 hours. Special ice should not be used for making sweets. There should be a closed showcase with a mesh cover to prevent fish from invading. Get yourself and your employees vaccinated.
The edible oil used in making confectionery should be used only two to three times. It should then be recycled by biodiesel companies under the edible oil regulations. Details of the ingredients of the confectionery should be displayed on the confectionery tray or in the tariff of the establishment or on the visible area in the establishment. Citizens should purchase sweetened milk and dairy products only from licensed establishments. Sweet milk and dairy products should be purchased fresh and as per requirement. Purchases should be made after looking at the usable date.
Don’t buy sweets, khava (mava) from open and peddlers.
Sweets made from mava should be consumed within 24 hours and stored at the right temperature (in the fridge). Bengali sweets should be consumed within 8 to 10 hours.
