Pune: Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Deshpande has informed that the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has organized a ‘Democratic Diwali’ contest in the month of November to justify Diwali. The Election Commission of India has announced a special brief revision program for the period 1 to 30 November 2021 for updating the electoral rolls and registering new voters on the eligibility date of 1 January 2022. Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Deshpande has appealed to celebrate this year’s Diwali democratically through the same lanterns and rangoli. For this, a competition will be organized with the concept of ‘First Step of Competent Democracy – Voter Registration’. Citizens should be appealed to register their names in the electoral roll while making sky lanterns ( Akashdiva) and making rangoli through the competition.
Akashdiva and Rangoli should use various symbols related to democracy, elections, voting. Use the inked finger on the left-hand thumb, polling station, ballot paper, EVM machine. Eco-friendly materials should be used to make skylights. Send three photographs of JPG format with a maximum size of 5 MB taken from different angles of the skylight prepared on the topics of democracy, voter registration, suffrage. A minimum of 30 seconds and a maximum of one minute of audio recordings should be sent for the full view of the hanging skylights. The video size should be up to a maximum of 300 MB and in MP4 format. No one’s name, logo, picture, frame, design, etc. should be added to the video. Rangoli competition
A maximum of 5 MB size and three JPG format photographs of Rangoli should be sent from different angles. No one’s name, logo, picture, frame, design, etc. should be added to the photograph.

Certificates will be given to all contestants who submit materials related to democracy, voter registration, suffrage. Also, the winners will be given certificates and badges.
