Kolhapur district squad of state excise department seized fake foreign liquor worth Rs 31 lakh along with a vehicle.
MUMBAI: The Kolhapur District Bharari Squad of the State Excise Department has seized a total of Rs 31,40,200 worth of Goa-made liquor along with a vehicle in an operation at Batkingangle, Gadhinglaj.

On the orders of Pawar and also under the guidance of Kolhapur District Superintendent Shri. Ravindra Awale and Deputy Superintendent Shri. Dadasaheb Darade State Excise, Kolhapur. On 25th October 2021, secret information was received that some persons were going to smuggle fake Goa liquor from Jambhulwadi Road, Batkanangle. A six-wheeler Tata KA-25-C-0701 truck was stopped and suspicious movement was seen on Kutcha Panand Road near Jamhulwadi in the Gadhinglaj area. While going to this place and raiding, the people there took advantage of the darkness and passed out. A close inspection of the vehicle by the staff revealed that a burglary had taken place in the tank and on the hood above the tank. When the plate of the leaf was removed, it was found that the cup contained various brands of Goa-made exotic liquor. Inside, only 750 ml boxes of foreign liquor for sale in the state of Goa were found. A case has been registered against Nikhil alias Balya Datta Redekar, Maruti Irappa Patil and Bharmu.
The impoundment included a total of 325 boxes of 550 ml of Tuborg Strong beer with 750 ml and 180 ml capacity bottles of Imperial Blue, Reserve Seven, Royal Stag, Golden S Blue whiskey and Gold and Black XXX rum and Green Apple vodka. A total of 330 boxes of liquor were found in the box with a total market value of Rs.21,40,200 / –
Chief Inspector Shri. Sambhaji Barge said that the search for the accused is underway. State Excise Squad Kolhapur Inspector Sambhaji Barge, Deputy Inspector Sanjay Mohite, Vijay Naik, Jawan Sarvatri Sandeep Jankar Sagar Shinde, Sachin Kalel. Maruti Powar, Raju Koli, Jay Shingare participated.
Inspector Sambhaji Barge said that further investigation is underway.
