Organizing a ‘’Saans’’ campaign to control pneumonia; Inauguration by
Additional Chief Secretary Dr Pradeep Vyas.
Mumbai: Dr Pradeep Vyas, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Public Health, inaugurated the state-level ”Saans” campaign on the occasion of World Pneumonia Day to protect, prevent and treat pneumonia.
The inauguration was done in the presence of Dr Archana Patil, Director of Health and Dr. Mridula Phadke, Former Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Pradeep Vyas congratulated the health workers and officials for bringing the infant mortality rate in Maharashtra from 19 to 17. Congratulations to the ‘Breath’ campaign with the slogan ‘No pneumonia but childhood signature’.
On this occasion, Dr Archana Patil informed about various activities under the ‘Saans’ program as well as measures to be taken at the state and district levels. Dr Mridula Phadke shared information on how pneumonia occurs in children, prevention, treatment and cure of pneumonia. Also, in case of severe pneumonia, Asha, ANM, CHO gave guidance on what kind of special care should be taken.
The ‘Saans’ campaign will be implemented across the state from 12 November 2021 to 28 February 2022 to create awareness and public participation about pneumonia in children. All the health institutions, hospitals, officials and staff of the state were present in large numbers on the occasion of this state-level inauguration ceremony.
Hosted by Dr. Ramchandra Hankare. Deputy Director Dr Kailas Baviskar, District Surgeon Dr Ashok Nandapurkar coordinated. The event was also attended by doctors from across the state, concerned staff of the health department, officials, Asha, ANM through the television system.
