One was arrested from Mumbai by Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Department.
Mumbai: In the investigation conducted by the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Department, a person named Attaullah Mohammad Naeem Chaudhary has been arrested from Mumbai, informed the Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes (Public Relations).
An investigation by the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Department revealed that a person named Mr Attaullah Mohammad Naeem Chaudhary has obtained GSTIN numbers by registering under the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 in the name of M / s Gauri Ispat, M / s Tej Steel, M / s Gajanan Enterprises.
It was found that these registered trading houses were accepting and issuing a large number of fake invoices/payments without any actual purchase or sale transaction. Mr Atta Ullah Mohammad Naeem Chaudhary received Rs. False payments amounting to Rs. 105 crore and consequently Rs. Obtained bogus input tax credit amounting to Rs 18.91 crore.
The act of Attaullah Mohammad Naeem Chowdhury is an offence under Section 132 (1) (b) and (c) of the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Act 2017, under Section 132 (1) (i) a minimum of 6 months, maximum of 5 years imprisonment and fine. – deserves so much punishment. Also, the offence under section 132 (5) of the Act is cognizable and non-bailable.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court has remanded Attaullah Mohammad Naeem Chaudhary in judicial custody for 14 days. The Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Department has appealed to the taxpayers to pay their taxes and other matters regularly as per the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Act.
