Primary Schools will start from 1st December in the state – Minister of School Education Prof. Varsha Gaikwad.
Mumbai: Closed schools in the state are being started in phases on the backdrop of Covid-19. Considering the current situation, after discussions with the Chief Minister, Cabinet and Pediatric Task Force, it has been decided to start 1st to 4th schools in rural areas and 1st to 7th schools in urban areas from December 1, informed Education Minister Varsha Eknath Gaikwad.
Due to the prevalence of Covid-19, online education was given priority considering the health of the students. It was decided to start the school in phases after the outbreak of Covid-19 subsided. Earlier, schools were started from 5th in rural areas and from 8th in urban areas. Now, after discussions with the Chief Minister and the Cabinet as well as the Pediatric Task Force, it has been decided to start the first school from December 1. Prof. Gaikwad said that we are committed to starting the school safely considering the health of the students.
This is the third phase of starting school in phases. The Education Minister commended the schools and teachers for their hard work in continuing education in a safe environment during this period. At the same time, he has been instructed to take further precautions regarding Covid-19. “Some students will be attending school for the first time, and taking care of their health and that of other students will be our priority,” she said. Prof. Gaikwad also thanked the task force for consistently providing guidance in this regard.
