Pune: – Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar today directed the concerned agencies to work in a coordinated manner for the immediate completion of the ‘Maan-Hinjwadi to Shivajinagar’ Metro Corridor-3 project and to ensure that ordinary citizens do not suffer from traffic jams.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Pawar reviewed the traffic planning required for the work of Metro Line-3 from Maan-Hinjwadi to Shivajinagar in the Divisional Commissioner’s Office.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that it is planned to complete the work of this metro line with a public-private partnership. Every week we will review all the mechanisms related to the project to make it a success and to solve the problems related to it. This project will be important for strengthening the public transport system of Pune city.
Care should be taken to ensure that there are no interruptions in the work of the metro line and no accidents occur while the work is in progress. The concerned department should expedite the implementation of the planning plan for the transport plan made before the commencement of work on the metro line, in such a way that the citizens will not face any problem regarding transportation. The suggestions of the people’s representatives should be taken into consideration while planning.
The National Highways Authority should immediately complete the repair work of the service road between Subway and Bhujbal Chowk. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation should widen the roads from Bhoomkar Chowk to Kasturi Chowk soon. He directed MIDC officials to take immediate action to work from Global Homes Sovereign Road to Pride Road near Wipro Circle.
PMRD Commissioner Suhas Divase gave a presentation on the work of ‘Maan-Hinjwadi to Shivajinagar’ Metro Line-3 and the layout of the transport system.
Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation Act 2013 has been adopted for the acquisition of space required for Metro Corridor. About 98 per cent of the land required for Metro Car Depot, Right of Way and Station has been acquired by the Authority. All the necessary permissions and licenses have been obtained in connection with the project. This is the first project in the country to acquire so many land acquisitions and all prescribed permits even before the actual commencement of the project.
The length of this metro line is 23.2 km and 23 stations are proposed in this line. This is the first project in India to be implemented on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis under the Central Government’s ‘Metro Rail Policy 2017’. For this, along with the central government, the state government will get financial assistance up to 20 per cent. The proposed integrated double-deck flyover has been designed to solve the long-term traffic congestion at Pune University Chowk in Pune city. It was informed that the diversion is planned to start the actual work of the project.
