Plan to unveil the statue of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule at Pune University on its anniversary: Dy CM Ajit Pawar.
Pune: Savitribai Phule A full-sized statue of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule should be erected at Pune University. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that all the work should be completed in such a manner that the statue would be unveiled on January 3, the coming anniversary of Savitribai.
A meeting was held at the Circuit House regarding the installation of a statue of Savitribai Phule at Savitribai Phule Pune University. Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister for Higher and Technical Education through Television System Uday Samant and Principal Secretary Vikas Chandra Rastogi were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the work should be started immediately by giving no objection to the Memorial Committee under the chairmanship of the District Collector and the Heritage Committee of the Corporation. He instructed Chandrakant Dalvi, Chairman of the Heritage Committee, over the phone to give no objection to the work of the statue by the Heritage Committee. Mr Dalvi said that a meeting of the committee will be held on December 8 and no objection will be given immediately after the proposal regarding this memorial is received.
On this occasion, Minister Shri. Bhujbal gave information about the memorial. The site of the statue has been jointly inspected by the university administration. Accordingly, it has been noticed that it would be better to place the statue in front of the main building. The work of making the statue is underway in a foreign studio in Katraj and today we have visited the place and inspected it. Mr Bhujbal said that this statue should be installed on the anniversary.
In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Shri. Pawar instructed Minister Uday Samant and Principal Secretary Shri Rastogi to give all the necessary permissions and no-objection. As the statue is in a protected area of the university, the necessary relaxation should be given in the standards for it, added Shri. Bhujbal suggested.
The meeting was attended by Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Pune Savitribai Phule Pune University Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Prof. Hari Narke, University Manager Dr Praful Pawar and others.
