Now the sports complex in Baramati will help in the preparation of national-international players.
Baramati: The Pune District Sports Complex is being renovated in Baramati city and hence the complex will be transformed. The city of Baramati is now emerging as a ‘sports hub’. It is a matter of joy for the players and the sports complex will help in the preparation of national-international players.
Renovation work of children’s hostel is underway in the sports complex, which will provide better accommodation for the players. Facilities like Kabaddi, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Gym, Volleyball, Karate, Boxing, Table Tennis, Sports Zoom, Fitness Yoga, Open Gym etc. are included, said Taluka Sports Officer Jagannath Lakde.
He also said that District Sports Officer Pune Rajesh Bagul and Sports Mentor Avinash Lagad are providing valuable assistance and guidance for the renovation of the sports complex.
Under District Sports Complex Pune; 400 m synthetic track at MIDC Katfal, 5000 capacity spectator gallery, hockey field, changing room, sports equipment room, skating ring, shooting range, swimming pool, filtration plant, various playgrounds, children’s hostel.
Weightlifting Hall, Exercise Hall, Karate, Boxing, Full Archery Range, Cycling Track, Multipurpose Hall, and Conference Room are in progress and are nearing completion.
Boxing Hall, Wrestling Hall, Table Tennis, Mini Skating Ring, Karate, Kabaddi Hall, Kho-Kho Ground, Gym, 10 Meter Shooting Range, Mini Archery Ground and Basketball Ground are also in progress in the 3-acre land adjacent to the complex.
A 400-meter runway, badminton court, basketball, karate, cricket, police training, gym, lawn tennis court, volleyball, kabaddi and kho kho grounds have been constructed on 11 acres of land at Taluka Sports Complex Malegaon.
The importance of sports is conveyed to the young players through the Taluka Sports Officer, Sports Guide in the Sports Complex. Special efforts are being made to encourage young players. Various government schemes are being implemented successfully. As various sports competitions are organized here, it has helped in inculcating sports culture. The participation of players from Baramati city as well as rural areas in the competition is increasing.
The facilities in the sports complex will be of special use to the young players of the Baramati area. For them, this facility is a kind of incentive. The players in the district as a whole will be able to avail these facilities and there is no doubt that tomorrow’s successful players will emerge from it.
Players are given good training along with facilities. Taluka Sports Officer Jagannath Lakde has won a medal in Athletics at the 2002 Asian Games in 44 countries. He has served as the head coach of the sport of athletics in all three armies. It is a credit to the players who come to the sports complex to get the guidance of an expert coach like them.
Baramati- The area has state-of-the-art facilities and grounds for almost all types of sports. The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Maharashtra is working hard to produce international players in the state. Taluka Sports Officer Jagannath Lakde has appealed to aspiring young players to avail the facilities as there is a lot of scope for a career in sports at present.
