Inauguration Ceremony of ‘Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy’

Pune: Against the backdrop of rapid changes taking place in the education sector, teachers need to adopt new knowledge and technology and the Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy’ will be useful in imparting the necessary new perspective to the teachers, said Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

He was speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of ‘Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy’

Mr Pawar said that today’s student is connected to the world through the internet. He is more aware of the fields of engineering, medicine, film, drama, art, culture, innovation etc. Teachers and administrators need to adopt new approaches to stay ahead of the students. Through the faculty Development Academy, it will be possible to develop modern knowledge and leadership qualities of the professors in the new age. This institution will be useful for developing good teachers.

The country has a glorious heritage of Guru-Shishya tradition. Maharashtra has worked to enrich this heritage. Dedicated gurus like Mahatma Jotiba Phule, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve worked to take education to the homes of Ganga farmers, hard-working Bahujan Samaj, opened the doors of education to women.

Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam worked to give a new scientific perspective to the students. The work of many teachers like Jayant Narlikar, ZP school teacher Ranjit Singh Disley is fundamental.

An organization that makes the wise more knowledgeable

Faculty Development Academy will improve the quality of education, radical improvements will be made in the field of education. If the new knowledge of the world is used by the professors, it will benefit the new generation.

Institutions like Sarathi Sanstha, Sahakar Bhavan, Krishi Bhavan, Kamgar Bhavan, Registration Bhavan, Commissionerate of Education etc. are being set up in Pune with a view to the next 50 years. He also hoped that more advanced facilities would be created in the teacher development institute with a view to the future.

An important step in strengthening the educational sector in Maharashtra – Uday Samant.

Mr Samant said that this is the first institute in the country to provide training to professors. Many reputed organizations are working with this organization. Infosys has agreed to provide training through the Social Responsibility Fund. This is the first such agreement in the country. Apart from professors, non-teaching staff will also be imparted modern training. This is a Rs 60 crore project and this is the first phase of it. Mr Samant expressed the belief that this project would be ideal at the national level.

Oxford will be known as ‘Pune of West’ – Aditya Thackeray

Mr Thackeray said that teacher is the technology of today. Training is important in that regard. Teachers are responsible for shaping the next generation. Teachers and education are important to create a new country, a new generation. Such work will be done through ‘Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy’. Oxford will be known as the ‘Pune of the West’ in the near future, given the changes that will be made in the education system today and the facilities that will be created, said Mr Thackeray.

MP Bapat expressed satisfaction over the establishment of the Acadamy and hoped that students and professors from rural areas would benefit from the academy.

In the introduction, Nipun Vinayak, Executive Director of the organization informed about the organization. Teacher training is an important part of the new national education policy. Maharashtra is the first state in the country to train about 1 lakh professors in more than 4000 colleges and one and a half thousand technical education colleges in the state.

The logo of JJ College was unveiled by the dignitaries. The students who created the emblem were also felicitated by the Deputy Chief Minister. Ajinkya Kotawar, the founder of the Gyan Foundation in Nagpur, which provides vocational training to the youth of Gadchiroli, was felicitated by Environment Minister Mr Thackeray as a ‘Young Social Innovator’.

Prior to the event, the dignitaries visited the Institute’s Leadership Quality Development Center, Center for Innovation and Modern Technology, Center for Equality and Inclusion, Multidisciplinary Curriculum Teaching Center, Recording Room, etc.
