The birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule is celebrated in the state.
Mumbai: The birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, the first female teacher in the state, is being celebrated today as Women’s Education Day, while the birth centenary of
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s mother Shri Jijabai will be celebrated on January 12. Due to this, from today till 12th January, this project of Jijau to Savitri-Sanman Maharashtra Lekis is being implemented. Under this initiative, various programs are being conducted for students and teachers across the state today.
Various competitions, exhibitions, seminars and lectures for out-of-school girls, as well as menstrual management awareness sessions for teenage girls will be organized. State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has appealed to students and teachers to participate in this initiative by strictly following the Kovid rules.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has greeted Savitribai Phule on the occasion of her birthday. He said that Savitribai’s contribution to women’s education is eternal.
Savitribai was a revolutionary social reformer of truth-seeking ideas, and the country and women in the country are grateful for her work, said Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
