A joint plan of folk art from different parts of Maharashtra should be prepared – Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant.

Mumbai: Maharashtra is a culturally rich state. There are many traditions rooted in the soil of Maharashtra. At the national level, we should cherish the folk art that Maharashtra’s name will be taken with pride. Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant has directed that a joint plan should be prepared for this by the Folk Art Department.
Mr Samant was speaking at the inauguration of the Shahir Amarshekh Jayanti Ceremony jointly by the Western Region Cultural Center, Udaipur, Government of India and Shahir Amarshekh Adhyasan Folk Art Academy, University of Mumbai, at the Kalina Campus, University of Mumbai.
The Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Shri. Samant said that our culture and folk art should be nurtured by the universities. There are many great artists in Maharashtra. Proper planning should be done on how to reach out to more and more people by giving their art a chance in the right place. Just as education is essential for the betterment of society, so is the preservation of our precious culture. For this, everyone should come together and work to keep our folk art alive.
A comprehensive plan of folk art of the state should be prepared by the Academy of Folk Art, University of Mumbai. In this regard, a meeting will be held with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and a positive decision will be taken in this regard.
