Air Marshal Vivek Chaudhary, son of Ded District, will assume charge as the Chief of the Indian Air Force on September 30, 2021.

The Ministry of Defense has recently announced the name of the current Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Vivek Chaudhary, as the new Chief of Air Staff. Air Chief Marshal R. K. S. Bhadoria is retiring on September 30, 2021, and Air Marshal Chaudhary will accept the post from him.

Air Marshal Vivek Chaudhary hails from Hastra in Hadgaon taluka of Nanded district. He completed his primary education at Zilla Parishad School, Nanded and later completed his education at the National Defense Academy, Pune and joined the Air Force Fighter Stream on 29 December 1982.

Prior to taking over as Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Vivek Chaudhary served as Commander-in-Chief of the Western Division of the Air Force, which is responsible for airspace in northern India, including Ladakh. In the Air Force, he has held command, staff and instructional responsibilities. He has 3,800 hours of experience flying MiG and Sukhoi fighter jets. For his outstanding work in the Air Force, he has been honoured with the Air Force Medal in 2004, Distinguished Service Medal, Extraordinary Service Medal in 2015 and the Most Distinguished Service Medal in 2021.
