Arrange pending road projects in a timely manner – Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s instructions

Review of road projects in the state in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Regular inspections will be carried out by the Ministry to expedite the completion of highway projects in the state

Mumbai: In order to expedite the completion of national and state highway projects in the state, the work of these projects will be regularly reviewed by the Ministry. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today directed the Secretary to take a decision on the pending projects due to land acquisition and forest department. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at Sahyadri Guest House today to review the road projects in the state.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the National Highways Public Works Department, National Highways Development Authority and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation are the three agencies working in the state. The Chief Secretary will regularly review these projects at the ministry level to give impetus to the ongoing projects of National and State Highways in the state. He also instructed the senior officials present on the occasion to take immediate decisions on the pending matters related to road projects to the state government.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also directed to appoint retired IAS officers to solve issues related to land acquisition and forest department for highway works at a divisional level including Marathwada, Vidarbha as well as Konkan, Western Maharashtra and Khandesh. Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, Ahmednagar Bypass, Ratnagiri-Kolhapur, Kolhapur-Kagal, Sangli-Solapur, Surat-Nashik-Ahmednagar, Ahmednagar-Solapur-Akkalkot, Pune-Ahmednagar-Aurangabad Greenfield Expressway, Nanded-Jalna-Ahmednagar-Pune The current status of various highways and ring roads was also discussed.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instructed to complete the pending matters at the state government level so that the work of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg would not linger.

Presentations were made by the National Highways Development Authority, State Road Development Corporation and National Highways Public Works Department on the current status and progress of various highway projects underway in the state. In view of the condition of the roads in the Konkan due to heavy rains on the Mumbai-Goa highway, a demand was made to make these roads of cement concrete. Gadkari showed positivity.
