Covid care centre for children started at Kalina University campus.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has appealed to the people to act as responsible citizens, realizing that the threat of Covid has not been averted. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Covid Care Center for Children set up at the IT Park in the Kalina area of Mumbai University here today.
Don’t forget that you have relaxed some of the restrictions just to keep the economy afloat. Appealing to the people not to fall prey to any provocation and lure and endanger their own health and the health of others, the Chief Minister said that organizing political, social, religious and other events during the Covid period could be very costly in terms of health.
The Chief Minister said that Sanwar had come at the end of the first wave but now the second wave has not completely subsided yet; That is the beginning of the festival. In it, we have relaxed the restrictions for the last fortnight, but this freedom is so that we can continue our daily subsistence business so that the economic cycle does not stop. We want to further reduce infection and mortality. So even if Covid is not a warrior, be careful not to become a Covid angel and invite the third wave.
Expressing satisfaction over the Covid Care Center being inaugurated today, he said that the state government has set up a Covid task force for children as it is the first state to set up such a task force as children are at high risk of infection in the third wave. He said that a state-of-the-art genome sequencing laboratory has been set up in Mumbai through which we will be able to get information about the infection in a scientifically sound and fast manner.
The Covid Care Center, which was inaugurated today, was conceived by MLA Sanjay Potnis and has been handed over to the Corporation. The Children’s Corona Care Center, set up at Kalina University IT Park, has a capacity of 5,000 square feet and 30 patient beds. There is ample space for children’s entertainment. The centre is designed to isolate and treat children with coronary heart disease. A separate room for breastfeeding mothers has been set up here. Arrangements have been made for the parents to stay with the children affected by the corona. The centre has an up-to-date oxygen ambulance. The Corona Care Center is staffed 24 hours a day for cleanliness and safety. The children will be treated under the guidance of paediatricians at VN Desai Hospital and a private hospital. The children will be given nutritious food in this place. Recreational activities have been made available for the children.
Attempts have been made in this centre to ensure that children do not feel like coming to the hospital and have a pleasant atmosphere. Colourful walls, different toys, cardboard beds, etc. are arranged.
