Prevention of infection with Covid’s Omicron virus was discussed at a cabinet meeting today. On this occasion, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the information of the passengers coming from abroad should be received regularly so that they can be monitored and the infection can be prevented in time.

The countries where the corona outbreak has once again had the largest wave, with France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria finding more than 30,000 people being infected with the corona every day. There are more than 50 mutations in the omicron virus. In the current RTPCR test, if this variant is infected, the S gene will not be found. Currently, masks are most needed for prevention. The central government has made it mandatory for passengers from 12 countries to undergo RTPCR testing 72 hours before boarding a flight from there and once again the RTPCR test is mandatory upon landing. Separation is also required for 7 days.

The meeting also discussed the issue of how to check passengers arriving from abroad without landing directly at Mumbai or other airports in Maharashtra and then landing at other places in the country by domestic airlines or by road and rail. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that it would be easier to find sick passengers as well as their contact passengers if international and domestic airlines across the country regularly shared passenger information with each other.
