Chipi Airport of Sindhudurg will be inaugurated on 9th October.

Adding to Konkan’s infrastructure and boosting development, Sindhudurg’s Chipi Airport will soon open. The airport will be inaugurated on October 9, 2021, in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Shinde, Industry Minister Subhash Desai said at a press conference at the Ministry today.
Mr Desai said that the Maharashtra State Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) under the Department of Industries has undertaken this project and has completed the work of this airport. A total of 286 hectares of land was acquired for the project. Proposals were invited for the project, which cost about Rs 520 crore. IRB, Sindhudurg Airport Pvt. Ltd. He has been given the job on lease for airport construction, finance as well as operations (DBFO). They have spent it. Works like water supply, road development, protection wall etc. required for the operation of the airport have been done through MIDC. For this, Rs 14 crore has been spent through MIDC.
All the required licenses have been obtained from the Airport Authority of India, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Development agreements have been signed for the airport. The airport will boost the development of the Konkan, helping to expand the tourism business. With the launch of air travel to the sea, which is the attraction of Konkan, more and more tourists will be able to reach. Mr Desai also said that the time of prosperity of the Konkan people has started.
