- Students taking both doses will be able to attend in person

Mumbai: Approval is being given to start regular classes from October 20, 2021, in all non-agricultural universities, reputed universities, self-financed universities and their affiliated colleges in the state, announced Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant at a press conference held at the Ministry.
The Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Mr Samant said that those who have taken both doses of COVID-19 vaccine, can attend the university and college in person and for those students who have not been vaccinated with COVID-19, With the help of the head/principal of the college, in coordination with the local district administration, a special campaign for vaccination should be carried out and vaccination should be completed with priority. University and college teachers and non-teaching staff should also be vaccinated as a matter of priority.
Universities should decide at their level in consultation with the local authorities whether to start classes of universities/colleges at full capacity or 50 per cent capacity. Considering the local prevalence of COVID-19 and local conditions, restricted area planning and availability of health infrastructure, the university and college should take appropriate decisions at their level and provide detailed guidelines / standard operating systems to the college. (SOP) should be given, he said.
All non-agricultural universities and their affiliated colleges will be subject to the National Directive on Management of Covid-19, Additional Instructions on Workplaces, Guidelines issued by the State Government from time to time, Standard Operating System (SOP) and Guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission from time to time. Students who are unable to attend the actual college should be provided with an online facility.
The Director of Higher Education and Technical Education should take necessary action after reviewing the phased start of hostels. Also, as the main mode of transport in the Mumbai metropolitan area is the local train, the students will need to get permission to travel and a proposal in this regard will be sent to the Chief Secretary.
Minister Shri Samant also appealed to the students and parents to follow the rules announced on the background of Covid-19 and get vaccinated.
