Colleges, universities and tourist spots in the Pune district will open from Monday – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s instructions in the Covid review meeting.

Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed to open colleges, universities and tourist places in the district from Monday as the situation in Covid district is improving and the rate of vaccination is also good.

He was speaking at a Covid review meeting held at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office. MP Girish Bapat, Pune Municipal Corporation Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Mai Dhore, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao were present at the meeting.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Pawar reviewed the situation in Covid in the district. He said vaccination in the district has been given a good impetus. Pune district ranks second in the state in vaccination. Colleges should be opened from Monday as the incidence of covid infection is also under control. Only students who have taken two doses of the vaccine should be admitted to the college premises. Care should be taken to ensure that college management adheres to the Corona guidelines. Students coming from outside the district will be required to take the RTPCR test.

The closure of tourist spots in the district is affecting the employment of small traders. Tourist destinations should also be opened from Monday as the Covid situation is under control. Tourists should be required to wear masks and observe the physical distance. From Monday, private offices, like government offices, should be allowed to continue with 100 per cent attendance and hotels should be allowed to continue till 11 pm. Training centres under the jurisdiction of the state and central governments should also be opened from Monday.

The number of corona infections is declining and this is a good thing. However, in view of the upcoming festival, citizens need to follow the Corona guidelines to take care of themselves and their families. Citizens who have not received the second dose of the vaccine should be encouraged to get vaccinated. A special vaccination campaign should be carried out in slum areas of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The cooperation of social organizations should be sought for door-to-door vaccination. He said that efforts are being made to open cinemas and theatres in the district from October 22. Mr Pawar also gave instructions to increase vaccination in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area.

Divisional Commissioner Shri. Rao informed about the situation in the district through a presentation. The administration is making special efforts to prevent the spread of covid infection, so the positivity rate is under control. He said special efforts would be made to prevent the spread of infection during the upcoming festival. Last week, 2,584 actions were taken against those violating the Corona rules and 9 lakh 60 thousand fines were collected.
