Discount of Rs. 16,250 in other fees for government engineering students for the year 2021-22; Benefit to about 20,000 students: – Announcement of Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant.  

Considering the situation of Covid-19 in the state, it has been decided to give a rebate of Rs. 16,250 (approximately 25%) in fees other than tuition fees to the students admitted for engineering in government and government-aided autonomous bodies during the academic year 2021-22. 

Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Hall at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Matunga, Mumbai, reviewed Government Engineering Colleges and Institutions in the State. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Department of Higher and Technical Education, O.P. Gupta, Director of Technical Education Dr Abhay Wagh and professors of the concerned colleges were present. 

Mr Samant said that students admitted to government and government-aided autonomous engineering institutes have to pay other fees besides tuition fees. It did not use educational facilities like library, gymkhana as the students were not present in the college during the Covid period, so these fees should not be charged from the students. Considering the problems of students and parents on the background of Covid-19, it has been decided to give a rebate of Rs. 16,250 from other fees to provide educational help to the students. This will benefit about 20,000 engineering students. 

In order to use the existing 30-room training centre auditorium and banquet hall under the present Hotel Management Institute, the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education should renew all the facilities and enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the five-star hotel. This will also provide the facility of actual training to the students, said Mr Samant.

 Important decisions of the meeting

• Approval to rename the girls ‘hostel as’ Matoshri ‘as the construction of the girls’ hostel at VJTI has been completed.
• Approval to fill the posts of teachers and teaching staff on a contract basis from its own funds.
• In-principle approval of the budget of the organizations for the year 2020-2021.
• If the institutions want to propose construction for educational purposes, instructions to submit the proposal to the government.
• Instructions to approve these institutions to set up Centers of Excellence and submit the proposal to the Government immediately through the Directorate.

The meeting reviewed Veermata Jijabai Institute of Technology (VJTI), Mumbai, Guru Gobind Singhji Engineering Technology (SGGS) Nanded, Maharashtra State Hotel Management and Catering Technology (HMCT) Pune, Government Engineering College Jalgaon, Karad, Chandrapur, Amravati.   

शासकीय अभियांत्रिकी विद्यार्थ्यांना सन २०२१-२२ साठी इतर शुल्कामध्ये सूट, सुमारे २०हजार विद्यार्थ्यांना फायदा. 

शासकीय अभियांत्रिकी विद्यार्थ्यांना सन २०२१-२२ साठी इतर शुल्कामध्ये १६ हजार २५० रुपयांची सूट; सुमारे २० हजार विद्यार्थ्यांना फायदा:- उच्च व तंत्र शिक्षणमंत्री उदय सामंत यांची घोषणा. 

राज्यातील कोविड-१९ ची उद्भवलेली परिस्थिती विचारात घेऊन शैक्षणिक वर्ष २०२१-२२, या वर्षांमध्ये शासकीय व शासन अनुदानित स्वायत्त संस्थेमध्ये अभियांत्रिकीसाठी प्रवेश घेतलेल्या विद्यार्थ्यांना शिकवणी फी व्यतिरिक्त इतर शुल्कात १६ हजार २५० रूपयांची (अंदाजे २५%) सूट देण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला आहे, अशी घोषणा उच्च व तंत्र शिक्षण मंत्री उदय सामंत यांनी केली. 

क्रांतीज्योती सावित्रीबाई फुले सभागृह वीरमाता जिजाबाई टेक्नॉलॉजीकल इन्स्टिट्यूट माटुंगा, मुंबई येथे, राज्यातील शासकीय अभियांत्रिकी महाविद्यालय व संस्थांचा आढावा घेतला. या बैठकीला उच्च व तंत्र शिक्षण विभागाचे प्रधान सचिव ओ.पी. गुप्ता, तंत्र शिक्षण संचालक डॉ.अभय वाघ व संबंधित महाविद्यालयाचे प्राध्यापक उपस्थित होते.

श्री.सामंत म्हणाले, शासकीय व शासन अनुदानित स्वायत्त अभियांत्रिकी संस्थेमध्ये प्रवेश घेतलेल्या विद्यार्थ्यांना शिकवणी (ट्यूशन) शुल्क शिवाय इतर शुल्क भरावे लागते. त्यामध्ये कोविड काळात विद्यार्थी महाविद्यालयात प्रत्यक्ष उपस्थित नसल्याने ग्रंथालय, जिमखाना अशा शैक्षणिक सुविधांचा वापर केला नाही, त्यामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांकडून हे शुल्क घेऊ नये.  कोविड-१९ च्या पार्श्वभूमीवर विद्यार्थी, पालक यांच्या अडचणी लक्षात घेऊन विद्यार्थ्यांना शैक्षणिक मदत व्हावी म्हणून इतर शुल्कामधील १६ हजार २५०रूपयांची सूट देण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला आहे. त्यामुळे सुमारे २० हजार अभियांत्रिकी विद्यार्थ्यांना याचा फायदा होईल.

बैठकीतील महत्त्वपूर्ण निर्णय

• व्हीजेटीआय येथील मुलींच्या वसतिगृहाचे बांधकाम पूर्ण झाले असल्याने या वसतिगृहास ‘मातोश्री’ या नावाने नामकरण करण्यास मान्यता. 
• या संस्थाना शिक्षक आणि शिक्षकेत्तर पदे कंत्राटी तत्वावर स्वतःच्या निधीतून भरण्यास मान्यता. 
• संस्थांच्या २०२०-२०२१ च्या अर्थसंकल्पास तत्वत: मान्यता. 
• संस्थांना शैक्षणिक प्रयोजनार्थ बांधकामाचे प्रस्ताव करावयाचे असल्यास सदरचे प्रस्ताव शासनास सादर करण्याच्या सूचना. 
• या संस्थांना उत्कृष्टता केंद्र (Centre of Excellence) तयार करण्यासाठी मान्यता देऊन त्याबाबतचा प्रस्ताव संचालनालयामार्फत शासनाकडे तातडीने सादर करण्याच्या सूचना. 

सद्य:स्थितीत हॉटेल मॅनेजमेंट संस्थेअंतर्गत असलेले ३० रुमचे प्रशिक्षण केंद्र ऑडिटोरिअम व बँकेट हॉल वापरण्यासाठी महाराष्ट्र राज्य तंत्र शिक्षण मंडळ यांनी याबाबत सर्व सुविधा नूतनीकरण (Renovate) करुन पंचतारांकित हॉटेल सोबत सामंजस्य करार (Memorandum of Understanding) करावा. यामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांना प्रत्यक्ष प्रशिक्षणाची सुविधा उपलब्ध होईल असेही श्री.सामंत यांनी यावेळी सांगितले.
