The fort should beautify the ancient heritage of the Sinhagad area and should be developed in accordance with the environment, stated Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
He was speaking at a review meeting on the development of the Fort Sinhagad area held at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office. MP Supriya Sule, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ayush Prasad were present on the occasion.
Mr Pawar said that environmentally-friendly vehicles should be used for transportation in the area. The parking lot should also have facilities for drivers. Toilet facilities should be provided for tourists. Development should be done with the view that tourists should get information about the history and also enjoy tourism. Locals who know Marathi and Hindi languages should be trained as guides to provide information to the tourists. Tourists should be provided with local dishes like pithala-bhakri. Care should be taken to ensure that the beauty of the fort is not disturbed. He also gave such instructions.
The development plan of the fort area was informed through a presentation. The meeting was attended by members of the Sinhagad Forest Rights Committee and officials of the concerned department.
