Mumbai: The rates of corona tests conducted in private laboratories in the state have been revised once again. Rs 350 will be charged for the RTPCR test for corona diagnosis, informed Health Minister Rajesh Tope. The health department has also announced a ruling in this regard.

Corona outbreaks have been felt since last year. Against this backdrop, the rates of corona tests conducted by the state government in private laboratories are being fixed continuously and so far the rates of these tests have been revised at least five to six times. Mr Tope said that according to the new revised rate, it is mandatory for private laboratories to test for only Rs. 350 / -.

As per the government decision issued, rates of Rs 350, Rs 500 and Rs 700 have been fixed for corona tests. A fee of Rs. 350 / – will be charged from the patient for collection, transportation and reporting of the sample from the collection centre. From the laboratory at the hospital, Covid Care Center, Quarantine Center, Rs.500 / – will be charged for sampling and reporting and Rs.700 / – for sampling and reporting from the patient’s residence. No private laboratory in the state will be allowed to charge more than this limit, the decision said.

In addition to the RTPCR test, rates have been fixed for rapid antigen and antibody tests. These rates will be charged for three stages, namely, if the patient comes to the laboratory himself, takes samples from the testing centre or in combination, and takes samples from the patient’s home. Rates for antibodies (ELISA for SARS covid) tests are 200, 250 and 350. The rates for CLIA for SARS covid antibodies test are 300, 400, 500. Rates of 100, 150 and 250 are now fixed for patients coming to the laboratory for rapid antigen tests.

Rs 1,200 has been fixed for CB-NAT or Trunet test. The availability of the necessary materials and equipment for these tests has increased as well as the availability of ICMR to various manufacturing companies. The cost of transportation has also come down as the transportation system is smoother. The state government has decided to reduce the testing rate as the number of laboratories accredited by ICMR and NABL has increased in the state.
