The incidence of corona infection in the district is declining and citizens still need to be vigilant for some time to avoid the threat of a third wave. Therefore, as a precautionary measure on the day of Ganesh Immersion on Sunday, it has been decided to close shops in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area as well as in the three cantonment areas, informed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He was speaking at a review meeting on the Corona situation and measures chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office.

Mr Pawar said that essential services, hotels and restaurants will be maintained on the day of Ganesh Immersion on Sunday. Citizens should be urged to follow the Corona rules at the time of immersion. Care should be taken not to overcrowd. He also urged the citizens to cooperate with the administration by following the guidelines on the corona.

Care should be taken to ensure that patients with other illnesses receive appropriate treatment as the corona infection is under control. Citizens should be encouraged to take a second dose and focus on public awareness. Swimmers who have taken the second dose will be allowed to practice in the swimming pool. After Ganesh Utsav, necessary decisions will be taken after reviewing the situation, said Mr Pawar.
Representatives of the people and members of the Kovid Core Group expressed satisfaction over the reduction in corona infection and said that citizens need to take further care.
Divisional Commissioner Shri. Rao informed about the Corona situation in the district through a presentation. The district has crossed the 92 lakh stage of corona vaccination. 18 lakh 80 thousand vaccines were given in August, while 11 lakh 20 thousand vaccines have been given so far in September. In the last two weeks, Pune district has vaccinated more than 1 lakh citizens 5 times. A fine of Rs 20 lakh 95 thousand has been recovered through punitive action this week.

Last week, the rate of infected patients in the Pune district was 3.9 per cent. A total of 4 lakh 30 thousand sample tests have been completed in Pune rural area under the Dhadak campaign. The death toll fell to 0.9 per cent last week, he said.
