Distribution of ‘e-Shram’ cards for unorganized workers by the District Collector.
Pune: The registration drive for unorganized workers started by the office of Deputy Commissioner of Labor Pune was inaugurated by District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh. At this time, e-labour cards were distributed to the first registered workers.
Deputy Commissioner of Labor Abhay Gite and Assistant Commissioner of Labor Sudhir Gaikwad were present on the occasion. The e-labour portal has been set up by the central government to provide social security for unorganized workers. Accordingly, the work of registration of unorganized workers in the district has been started from 11th October through the office of Deputy Commissioner of Labor, Pune.
Unregistered workers will be given a universal account number under registration. Therefore, unorganized workers will be identified in the form of an ‘e-labour’ card in the government register. It will benefit unorganized workers, small traders, peddlers, taxi drivers, rickshaw drivers, self-employed people etc.
After registering on the e-labour portal, the concerned will get accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh. It will also benefit future government schemes. Mr Gite has appealed to the maximum number of unorganized workers to register under this registration campaign.
