The state government has enacted the Public Service Rights Act, a revolutionary law for the benefit of the people and for the empowerment of the people. Chief Administrative Rights Commissioner Swadhin Kshatriya appealed to all the administrative bodies to implement this law effectively by providing facilities to the citizens within the stipulated time. He also said that the work done by the Pune district in online service while implementing the ideas fixed under the Service Guarantee Act is commendable.

He was speaking at a meeting on State Public Service Rights Act-2015 held at the Collectorate. Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Additional Collector Vijay Singh Deshmukh, Resident Deputy Collector Himmat Kharade, Additional Commissioner Development Dhakne of Pimpri Chinchwad were present on the occasion.

Mr Kshatriya said that through the Maharashtra Public Service Rights Act, the people will get transparent, speedy and effective services within the given time frame. Effective implementation of this law is essential as it will protect the rights of the people. This law is very useful for the public and in order for the public to be aware of this law, it is mandatory for everyone to post information about the services coming under the purview of this law and the time limit for it. He said the implementation of the law would help the administration become more speedy and transparent.

Mentioning that Pune district has done well under the Right to Public Service Act, Kshatriya said that the number of applicants under this Act in the revenue department is also significant. It has also been disposed of to a good extent. Pune district has done well in disposing of applications within the stipulated time. The state has been working effectively with the help of computer systems during the Corona epidemic. Mr Kshatriya also said that with the increase in the number of Government Service Centers in the Pune district, the addition of some new services is remarkable and this will provide services to more and more citizens.

He also suggested that the government should make it possible for citizens to apply for all kinds of services at the centre as well as propagate the law.

Divisional Commissioner Shri. Rao said that regarding the Public Service Rights Act, work is underway to provide timely service to the citizens in all the five districts of the Pune division with the spirit of ‘Our duty, our service’. The administration is always ready to serve the citizens. A large number of online services were provided in the Pune metropolis during the Corona period. He also said that the Pune district has done a remarkable job.

District Collector Dr Deshmukh said that due to the Right to Public Service Act, the administration is ready to provide services in a transparent, efficient and timely manner. It is the right of an eligible person to receive services. This service is being provided promptly using information technology. The administration is working hard on how to develop a culture of public service delivery and how to speed up the service. There are 1433 government service centres in the district, of which another 800 new centres are proposed to be added. A proposal has also been submitted to add 59 new services. He informed about the various schemes being implemented in the district under the entire Seva Abhiyan including monitoring of essential medicines on Corona, planning of ambulances, service providers, timely help to the victims of natural calamities, change court under Maharajaswa Abhiyan. Additional Collector Vijay Singh Deshmukh informed about the app being used for providing services. Chief officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
