Pandharpur: – The length of Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram Palkhi Highways is 231 and 130 km respectively and a total fund of Rs 12,000 crore has been provided for this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed that a special road should be constructed for the Warkaris going to Pandharpur along these two palanquin highways and various necessary facilities should be created for the Warkaris on this highway.
At Pandharpur, the groundbreaking and dedication of 13 different highway projects jointly organized by the Union Ministry of Road Transport, National Highways Authority and Public Works Department, State of Maharashtra were done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by pressing a remote key and using a virtual system; He was speaking on the occasion. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray were also present on the occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this Palkhi Highway would not only accelerate the development of the region but also create better connectivity with South India. Special roads will be constructed for Warkaris on both sides of this highway and various facilities should be created for Warkaris on this route. Wari of Pandharpur has a tradition of many years and the pilgrimage to this place is the biggest. Hundreds of years of slavery, natural disasters continued. It continues unabated today. He said that there is no discrimination in this Wari and it is a Wari that conveys the message of equality to the world and every Warkari is equal in this place.
The Central Government is constructing a large number of highways across the country and efforts are being made to connect every village and hamlet by road. In the same vein, the southern Kashi Pandhari will also be connected to the Palkhi Highway and brought into the mainstream of development. Due to this road, along with the cultural progress, the development of this area will get a boost and religious tourism will increase a lot. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this path is a new stream of development as it will also create employment. He also said that Pandhari Wari is a symbol of gender equality.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi appealed to the people of the area to plant shade trees on both sides of the Palkhi Highway, provide clean water on the Palkhi route and make efforts to make Pandharpur the cleanest pilgrimage site in India in the future.
