Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that due to heavy rains in Marathwada, the crops brought by the farmers were washed away, but we as the government are behind these farmers and have given instructions to the administration to help them in every possible way. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray took a district-wise review of the heavy rains in Marathwada for the last two days from the Relief and Rehabilitation Department. He directed the administration to extend all possible help to the affected farmers and citizens in any case. He said that the villagers have rescued the villagers from the floodwaters in some places and the evacuation of people from the area should be facilitated. The Chief Minister also held discussions with the Divisional Commissioners and said that the administration should pay attention to the rescue work of the citizens in this natural calamity and coordinate all the agencies.

The Chief Minister discussed the situation with the Guardian Ministers of Marathwada districts yesterday evening and this morning as well. He also instructed Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and Principal Secretary Relief and Rehabilitation Asim Kumar Gupta. Maharashtra received 26 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. The torrential rains that have been falling for the last two days have particularly affected the districts of Marathwada.

Initiate a loss inquiry

He also directed that the rescue and emergency relief work should be expedited and the revenue department and the agriculture department should immediately start an inquiry into the damage. The Chief Minister also said that due to incessant rains, orchards have been damaged in some places and crops have been washed away. This is an unprecedented situation.

Don’t let students get hurt

Due to the flood situation and many students could not reach the centre for the CET entrance exam. The Chief Minister also directed that these students should be given another opportunity to appear for the CET exams, so as not to cause any academic loss to the students.

Helicopters, boats rescued about a hundred people

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the rescue of about 100 people from Osmanabad, Latur, Aurangabad and Yavatmal areas by NDRF personnel as well as local police. Helicopters rescued 16 people from Osmanabad and 20 people by boat. In Latur, 3 people were rescued from a helicopter and 47 from a boat. The Chief Minister was informed that 2 and 24 persons were rescued from Yavatal and Aurangabad respectively.

In the NDRF rescue operation

The Chief Minister also informed that one squadron of NDRF is in Osmanabad and one squadron is in Latur and an Air Force helicopter is conducting rescue operations in these two districts.
