Ahmednagar: – The intensive care unit of Ahmednagar District Hospital caught fire due to a short circuit at 10.30 am today. 17 Kovid patients were admitted to this department. Out of these, 10 patients died on the spot while 1 patient is in critical condition. Other patients have been shifted to safer places, informed District Collector Dr Rajendra Bhosale.

This information was given by District Collector Mr Bhosale while talking to reporters after visiting the spot.

Mr Bhosle said that a fire audit of Ahmednagar District Hospital was conducted on the background of the gas leak incident in Nashik. But still, an unfortunate incident has happened. A committee has been set up under the chairmanship of the Chief Fire Officer to look into the matter.

Instructed to take all preventive measures to prevent recurrence of the accident; Strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the inquiry announced by the Chief Minister.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has expressed deep sorrow over the fire that broke out in the intensive care unit of Ahmednagar District Hospital and expressed sympathy to the relatives of the victims. The fire incident at Nagar District Hospital is unfortunate and the Chief Minister has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident. The Deputy Chief Minister also clarified that strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the investigation and all the concerned departments will be directed to take necessary preventive measures to prevent the recurrence of such accidents. District Guardian Minister Hasan Mushrif and District Collector are monitoring the situation. The safety and health care of other patients in the hospital have been taken care of, informed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
