Pune: Complaints under the Sexual Harassment of Women (Prohibition, Prohibition and Prevention) Act, 2013 in all government and semi-government offices with 10 or more officers and employees as well as in all private institutions, companies, establishments etc. It is mandatory to set up a redressal committee.

In the first week of January, the annual report of the committee was submitted to the District Women and Child Development Officer’s Office, 29/2, Gulmarg Park Co. Op. Yes. Society, 3rd Floor, Near Vijay Bakery, Somwar Peth, Pune 411011. Failure to submit the report of establishment of internal grievance redressal committee will result in the imposition of a penalty of Rs. 50,000 as per section 26 (a) of the Act.

A sign with the names and telephone numbers of the chairman and members of the established committee should be placed in the front of the office. The information for setting up the committee has been given in Section 4 (2) of the Act and in the ruling of the Department of Women and Child Development dated 19th June 2014.

The annual report of the internal grievance redressal committee should be submitted in the prescribed format to the District Women and Child Development Office in time.

Facility to report harassment on ‘She Box’ system

District Women and Child Development Officer Ashwini Kamble has appealed to the women employees of the office to register their grievances on the online sexual harassment management system under the Act.

District level local committee formed

As per the provisions of the Act, the local committee for the Pune district has recently been reconstituted. Sharda Wadekar as president and Preeti Karmarkar, Adv. Vishal Jadhav and Deepali Gatekar have been appointed as members. District Women and Child Development Officer Pune is the member secretary of this committee.

Local committees handle complaints of sexual harassment against employers in workplaces with less than ten employees. If there is any such complaint, it should be sent to the District Women and Child Development Officer’s office. Under this Act, Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition No. 26) Snehal Bhosale has been appointed as District Level Officer, informed Mrs Kamble.
