In the competition organized under Swachh Survey, Pune city was ranked second in the state of Maharashtra.
Under Swachh Amrit Mahotsav 2021, Government of India, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs organized Swachh Survey 2021, Safai Mitra Suraksha Award and Garbage Free City Award Ceremony on 20th November 2021.
In the competition organized under Swachh Survey, Pune city has been ranked 10th out of 4320 cities, 5th among cities with a population of 10 to 40 lakhs and second place in Maharashtra.
For this, the city of Pune was honoured at the hands of Hon’ble Secretary MOHUA. It was also awarded first place in the best sustainable big city and a three-star rating under GFC. The award was accepted by Hon’ble Mayor of Pune Shri Murlidhar Mohol Hon’ble Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Kunal Khemnar Shri Ajit Deshmukh Deputy Commissioner Pune Municipal Corporation Smt. Asha Raut Deputy Commissioner Clean Survey and Assistant Health Officer Dr Ketki Ghatge.
The Hon’ble Municipal Commissioner said that this honour was due to the tireless work of the Pune administration, all the officers and staff, the positive response of the citizens and the musical efforts of Swachh Bharat Pune Municipal Corporation NGO and the inclusion of innovative projects. Hon’ble Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Kunal Khemnar expressed the view that he will make continuous efforts through public participation in the future. People’s Representative, Hon’ble Commissioner, Clean Institution Citizen forums. Deputy Commissioner Ajit Deshmukh said that Punekar got valuable participation. The credit for this award goes mainly to the citizens of Pune and with their participation, many socially useful and environmentally friendly activities will be implemented in the years to come, said Hon’ble Mayor Shri Murlidhar Mohol.
