Students pursuing higher education in Arts and Design will be given the benefit of subject-wise ranking as colleges do not fit in the QS rankings of 300.
The state government is positive to increase the number of beneficiaries of the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Foreign Scholarship Scheme from 75 to 200 and another 50 seats will be added from this year. Also, an advertisement will be published for the same academic year, said Dhananjay Munde, Minister of State for Social Justice.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr Munde at Sahyadri Atigriha, to improve some of the criteria demanded by the students regarding the foreign scholarship scheme. Minister of State for Social Justice Dr Vishwajit Kadam, Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, Joint Secretary Dinesh Dingle, Commissioner Prashant Naranware and other senior officers of the department were present.
The college, which offers higher education abroad to students pursuing higher studies in fine arts, film making, animation, design, etc. in the arts, was not getting the benefit as it was not in the top 300 of the world QS rankings. Therefore, along with QS ranking, the option of a subject ranking published by QS publication should also be considered. Students in the field of art should also be able to benefit from this scheme. In this connection, the Minister of Social Justice, Mr Munde, directed to change the criteria.
Students in Maharashtra are attracted to European universities, but at the same time, many universities in South Korea are at the forefront of the world rankings due to their quality education. Minister of State Dr Vishwajit Kadam suggested taking some measures to attract students to these universities as well.
All the selection processes from applying for Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Pardesh Scholarship Scheme should be done online, as well as provision of necessary technical manpower and administrative expenses. He was also directed to take action in this regard. Presented by Dhananjay Munde.
