Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated the electrification of Torna fort in Velhe taluka which is the highest in the district.Inauguration of Electrification at Torna Fort by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Pawar announced that Rs. 6 crores 50 lakhs would be provided from the funds of the District Planning and Development Committee for electrification of villages in Velhe, Bhor and Mulshi talukas.

Zilla Parishad Vice President Ranjit Shivtare, MSEDCL Regional Director (Q) Ankush Nale, Chief Engineer Sachin Talwar, Superintending Engineer Rajendra Pawar were present as chief guests on the occasion.

Torna Fort, located at an altitude of 1403 m above sea level in Velhe taluka, is an important fort in the Sahyadri range. To electrify the remote and enormous Torna fort; the Fund of Rs. 27 lakh 88 thousand was sanctioned by District Planning and Development Committee. MSEDCL started a very challenging and arduous task for electrification of Torna fort. In this 27 power poles for high pressure, 11 kV line and 20 poles for the low-pressure line were erected. In addition, an 1800 meter long underground power line has been laid through the valley. Also, the work of electrification has been completed by erecting 100 KVA capacity rohitra. The workers had to carry poles and other materials on their shoulders to build the power plant from the hills. Due to this electrification, tourists and Shiva devotees coming to Torna fort have been facilitated and tourism will get a further boost.

Engineers and staff including Manik Rathod, Executive Engineer, Mulshi Division, Navnath Ghatule, Deputy Executive Engineer, etc. worked hard for the electrification of Torna fort.

District Electricity Control Committee member Praveen Shinde, Velhe Panchayat Samiti chairperson Dinkar Sarpale, Zilla Parishad member Sh Dinkar Dharpale, Panchayat Samiti member Sangita Jedhe and Velhe Sarpanch Sandeep Nagine were present on the occasion.
